Probiotic supplements have been around for a while, but have really exploded onto the market lately. Most people aren’t even sure what they are, or the name itself makes it sound like something robotic? OK maybe that’s just me, but I have to say being in my late 40s I couldn’t live without those tiny robots. So what are Probiotics?

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for you, especially for your digestive system. We usually think of these as germs that cause diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.

Probiotics Reviews

Pro’s and Con’s

Pro’s: These live bacteria work in your gut to help break down foods, and as we get older our bodies stop, or slow down producing a lot of these much needs bacteria. As a result we tend to have a hard time eating foods we use to, without getting a stomach ache, bloated, or having to run to the bathroom.

Probiotics not only replace the good bacteria in our bodies, but also have several other benefits such as:

  • Help balance and improve your digestive system, keeping your body working like it should.
  • Better weight loss and nutrition intake – because you’re getting more out of the food you eat & better metabolism.
  • Lower cholesterol and better blood pressure.
  • Less gas, bloating, or upset stomachs from food we eat.
  • Can help some with heart burn.
  • Can help with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and some types of diarrhea.

Con’s: As with any supplement you start taking consult with your doctor first to make sure it’s a good idea. In general, probiotic foods and supplements are thought to be safe for most people, because they already exist in the body. In some cases, mild side effects might include an upset stomach, diarrhea, gas and bloating for the first couple of days after you start taking them.

Can Probiotic’s work for you?

I have to say my experience with Probiotics is really good. Being older I now have a hard time eating fatty food, eggs, and some fried foods. With probiotics I can now eat a lot of these foods, without the upset stomach or diarrhea. They work so well my whole family takes them. My wife has a hard time eating fatty foods since having her gallbladder removed, and my wife and daughter have a hard time with gluten and breads. Probiotics are a must have for them.

I introduced my sister to Probiotics because she has IBS and Gluten allergies, and she can’t thank me enough. It didn’t cure these illnesses, but helped her with symptoms from them.

For weight loss probiotics help you get the most out of your foods. More nutrients, better energy, better metabolism, better digestion, better movement of your food, less bloat, stronger immune system, and a lot more. Here are my suggested Probiotics I use that could really help you. Just click product links if your interested in buying them.

Peptiva Probiotic

  • Product: Peptiva Probiotic
  • Quantity: 30 capsules
  • Suggested for: Everyone
  • Peptiva Reviews: Take one capsule before bed and this will work overnight to restore good bacteria in your body, and comes with Peptiva sleep support which has added ingredients for a more relaxed and deeper sleep. I like this because it’s simple to use and you don’t have to worry about taking probiotics with every meal. Also contains much more variety of good bacteria your body needs. The sleep ingredients do seem to be hit or miss, meaning it helps most people but some it might not do much to help with sleep.

  1. Great information. I have taken a few different probiotics. My favorite is Kefir, however, it probably doesn’t have as many helpful bacteria as some others. I love the flavor. I also take a chewable wafer that is pretty good.

  2. Good options here, I’ve tried pro-biotics before, my doctor told me to take some to get rid of heartburn. It worked surprisingly.

  3. I agree that probiotics can really help you be able to eat many difficult kinds of foods! They really just make the whole world go round when it comes to digestion. Great review!

  4. I have been telling my adult children about probiotics and the importance of them for a while. I was so excited to see this article to pass along to them! Thank you!
